  • Smartlink to support "Make in India" initiative of Government

Rejuvenates its Manufacturing plant for Manufacturing large scale IT Products in Goa
Mumbai, 24th February, 2015: Smartlink is committed to government’s call of ‘Make in India’ and has always encouraged local manufacturing in the Indian IT Sector. The company’s legacy of local manufacturing dates back to a time when local manufacturing looked unfeasible which gave Smartlink an impetus. Smartlink Network Systems Ltd. today launched the next generation DG-HR3400 wireless router at its manufacturing plant in Goa. Local manufacturing has always given the company a scope to design and manufacture products that are tailored to Indian operating conditions, which are different compared to other countries - be it how products get transported, how they are installed or under what power conditions they operate.

Smartlink has revamped its strategies which are now more customized to the ‘Make in India’ campaign which is reflected in the packaging of its products. Local manufacturing is a sure win-win formula as it would require designing and manufacturing for India by India. Indian companies should create our own brands and create a market for them internationally.

“Smartlink was set up with a vision to manufacture IT products in India for India. We at Smartlink welcome the initiative of ‘Make in India’ campaign by the government and we want to extend our support by all means that we can. All our products are crafted and designed to bring convenience along with the best technologies for India and abroad. Even the branding campaigns have been designed in conjunction with government’s initiative. My IT journey started 4 decades back with mainframe computer development in the IBM days and I then entered in manufacturing personal computers about 3 decades back by importing wave soldering machine and subsequently we introduced SMT line to use surface mount components with large scale manufacturing in Goa.” said K. R. Naik, Founder & Chairman, Smartlink Network Systems Ltd.

“Thanks to the government, the electronic manufacturing sector is now excited with ‘Make in India’ initiative. We at Smartlink are geared up to reinvent complete chain of electronic hardware manufacturing starting from design to disposal (D&D). This means we will design, manufacture and will provide entire after sales service along with ensuring environmental safety by proper disposal of e-waste. We foresee substantial reforms and actions by the government in the forthcoming budget which will provide an impetus to the domestic/ indigenous manufacturing. We are sure government would reduce disabilities and create an incentive structure for the industry. We believe that our capabilities could be expanded to cater to the emerging exports markets of Africa besides the huge domestic market”, said Mr. Nitin Kunkolienkar, Vice-President, Smartlink Network Systems Ltd.

Manufacturing locally in India has and will enable companies to make significant savings on import duty and logistics costs, which remain considerably high (up to 25-30% of total landed cost). There will also a significant reduction in lead time for deliveries to the customer, especially in the case of complex engineering or high-tech products. This will allow companies to be far more responsive and flexible to changing customer needs. Also, servicing of locally manufactured products will be much convenient because it is easy to understand technology that has gone in manufacturing local products.

Smartlink today announced the launch of DG-HR3400- a IEEE802.11n wireless router under Digisol brand. Upgrading one’s home network to 300 Mbps speed (IEEE802.11n) up from the previous generation 150 Mbps (IEEE802.11g) provides better wireless signal and excellent solution for sharing an internet resource such as video, music and documents. DG-HR3400 is built with intelligent antenna technology to transmit multiple streams of data which enables receiving wireless signals faster. The new launch also includes ‘Quality of Service’ prioritization technology that analyzes and separates multiple data streams based on sensitivity to delay, enabling multiple applications to stream smoothly across your network.

One can enjoy quick and easy secure wireless setup as DG-HR3400 supports WPS (Wi-Fi protected setup) which simplifies wireless client setup procedures so that even an inexperienced user can setup a secured wireless network. DG-HR3400 supports robust security using WPA2-PSK with AES which enhances the security of wireless network to protect sensitive data from hackers.
